Man Arrested and Cannabis Seized in Major Dublin Operation
Joint Operation Yields Cannabis Worth €217,000 and Cash, Leading to Arrest
A man is being held by Gardaí tonight following a significant operation in Dublin that led to the seizure of a large quantity of cannabis and cash.
The collaborative effort between the Gardaí and Revenue officials took place in South Dublin, resulting in the confiscation of 5.85 kilograms of herbal cannabis valued at an estimated €117,000, along with €5,400 in cash.
A subsequent search uncovered an additional 5 kilograms of herbal cannabis, pending analysis, valued at approximately €100,000, and a small sum of cash.
In total, herbal cannabis with an estimated market value of €217,000 was seized.
A Garda spokesperson stated: 'A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained at a Garda Station in South Dublin under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
Investigations are ongoing.'
A Revenue spokesperson added: 'The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), and the Terenure Divisional Drugs Unit.'
